Under the theme Third Wave, Fourth Wave, Critical Turn? the mini conference will bring together over 40 comparative historical sociologists to consider the sub-discipline’s present and future. We are especially excited to host an opening plenary commemorating 20years since the publication of Remaking Modernity, with editors Julia Adams, Elisabeth Clemens, and Ann Shola Orloff. We bookend our morning conversation with a closing Global Modernities plenary featuring Maryam Alemzadeh, Zophia Edwards, Minwoo Jung, and katrina quisumbing king. In between, we will have six fantastic paper panels showcasing the broad and exciting scope of comparative historical sociology.
